I'm in my late 30's and here I post some of my arts.
A bit more attempted example of how I ‘sketch’ then paint, kinda. Though I started blocking in shade and such on the ‘sketch’ before remembering to save that step. Then there’s lighter and darker stuff worked in to try and 3D-ify it. Lines usually aren’t my friends. Any lines from the sketch bit are usually painted over/erased and occasionally drawn back in over the paint if an outline or narrow shadow or something seems to work better there. How much refining usually depends on how much energy I feel that I have.

In which I try to explain how I make a picture to a friend when I have no idea what I’m doing nor how to explain anything.
I’d say that I hope this helps but… ?
I don’t sketch much anymore except as studies because apparently I’m shit at sketching but colour is my strong point? Which might not be saying a lot. And how I go about that is a lot of struggling and fucking up and hoping it somehow turns out in the end?
If there’s anything more specific, maybe that would be easier for me to focus on and address. I want to help however I can (despite self-confidence issues apparent here).

impressivelypredictable said: I would love it if you’d give me some tips on how to paint. Super beginners’ type stuff. I’m horrible!

I’ll see what I can do! One thing I can say is that the eyedropper tool is very important for trying to blend colours together (to me at least, for digital stuff).

Also doing a lot of study/practice stuff - like with the foam shapes or photos. Which I should do more of to be honest.

Most of the time I’m guessing. I could try and do examples, maybe that would be better? Maybe I could try and see if I can get a livestream to broadcast from this laptop somehow sometime if that would help more. Showing would probably be better for this kind of thing now that I think of it.
